Napoleon Astound FlexMount: Common Problems, When to Call a Tech and Manual
This page covers the Napoleon Astound FlexMount electric fireplaces in the 50, 62 and 74 sizes. The Astound Built-In and SlimMount are different models with their own pages.
What this unit is
The Astound FlexMount is a current Napoleon electric fireplace that can be wall mounted or partly or fully recessed into the wall.
Error codes
These are the codes Napoleon lists for the Astound FlexMount (manual W415-4173, troubleshooting table, p.49). They're specific to this model. On the SlimMount, for example, E-1 means something different.
| Code on the display | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| OH | The unit overheated and its safety thermal switch tripped. | Unplug it or switch off its breaker, let it cool for 15 minutes, then plug it back in or switch the breaker on. If OH comes back, call a tech. |
| E-1 | Temperature sensor error. | Call a tech. The manual gives no owner fix for this code. |
| E-2 | Blower error. | Call a tech. The manual gives no owner fix for this code. |
| E-3 | Heater error. | Call a tech. The manual gives no owner fix for this code. |
| WIN (only on units made before May 2026) | Open window alert. The room cooled off a lot while the heater was on, so the fireplace thinks a door or window is open and shut the heater off to save power. | Close the open door or window. Then reset the alert by pressing and holding X and OK on the remote while pointing it at the fireplace, or reset it in the Napoleon Home App. If it keeps happening, call a tech. |
Won't turn on and gives a long, steady beep when powered up: the manual says the unit's protection board has found a fault in the hard-wired power connection. That's an electrical problem. Leave it off and call a tech or electrician; don't open the wiring yourself.
Common problems
- The remote stops working. Put fresh batteries in the remote first. It's the most common, and the cheapest, fix.
- Nothing happens at all. Check that it's plugged in (or that its breaker is on) before anything else.
- A code shows on the display. Look it up in the error code table above before you try anything else.
When to call a tech
- Smoke, a burning smell, or a hot cord or plug (turn it off and unplug it or switch off the breaker first)
- The same code or shutdown keeps coming back
- The breaker trips when the fireplace runs
