Napoleon Luminex 65 LCD: Error Codes, Quick Fixes and Manual
This page covers the Napoleon Luminex 65 LCD electric fireplace (model NEFL65LCD-3SV).
What this unit is
The Luminex 65 LCD is a current Napoleon linear built-in electric fireplace with a three-sided view. When something's wrong, it shows a code on its display.
Error codes: what the display means
| Code | What it means | Safe thing to try |
|---|---|---|
| OH | Overheat: the thermal cutoff has tripped | Unplug it or switch off its breaker and let it cool for 15 minutes, then restore power. If it keeps happening, call a tech |
| E-1 | Heating element error | Call a tech. Napoleon says to consult a service dealer (wiring or blower/heater assembly check) |
| E-2 | Blower error | Call a tech. Napoleon says to consult a service dealer (wiring or blower/heater assembly check) |
| E11 | Temperature sensor error | Call a tech. Napoleon says to consult a service dealer (temperature sensor check) |
| E25 | The room is too hot, so the heater has turned itself off | Once the room is below 30°C (86°F), you can use it again. If it keeps happening, call a tech |
| E27 | The room temperature dropped sharply, possibly from an open door or window | Close all windows and doors, then turn the fireplace off and back on |
| E28 | No user activity for 24 hours, so the heater turned itself off | Turn it back on with the remote or controls |
| E29 | Wi-Fi setup couldn't connect to the device | Start Wi-Fi setup mode again and retry the connection (steps in the manual) |
Common problems
- It shows OH and stops heating. This is a safety cutoff. Unplug it or switch off the breaker, let it cool 15 minutes, and turn it back on. If it comes back, call a tech.
- It shut itself off (E28). That's the 24-hour inactivity shutdown, not a fault. Just turn it back on.
- The app won't connect (E29). Redo the Wi-Fi setup from the manual. This one isn't a heating problem.
- E-1, E-2 or E11. Napoleon's fix for these is a service visit (wiring, blower/heater assembly or temperature sensor), so call a tech.
When to call a tech
- Smoke, a burning smell, or a hot cord or plug (turn it off and unplug it or switch off the breaker first)
- OH that keeps coming back after the unit has cooled and nothing is blocking it
- Any heater, blower or sensor error (E-1, E-2, E11)
