Valor fireplace beeping: what it means

Valor fireplaces with the GV60 control system use beeps from the receiver to tell you what's wrong. Here's what Valor's own troubleshooting handbook says.

Valor GV60 beep meanings

SoundWhat it indicatesWhat to try
Rapid beeps (about 3 seconds)Low battery voltageReplace all 4 AA batteries in the receiver with quality alkaline batteries (Valor says no rechargeables or store brands).
1 long beepElectrical problemCheck that the on/off toggle switch (I/O) is set to "I". Otherwise it's a wiring check for a tech.
1 beep, but no motor movementMotor failureTech visit or video call. The guide's fixes are a wiring harness or valve repair kit.

Re-sync the remote and receiver

  1. Press and hold the receiver's RESET button until the second beep, then release.
  2. Push the down-flame button on the remote until the receiver beeps to acknowledge. (Valor 10 remotes count down from 8 first.)

If you get a long beep during syncing, Valor's guide points to a wiring short, which is a tech-level check.

Batteries keep dying?

Valor's guide notes that fresh batteries can still test low because of corroded battery-box springs or a bad battery-box cable, and suggests a remote battery box to protect the receiver if batteries leak. Four new AA batteries should read about 6.2 volts; under 5.8 volts means replace them.

Common questions

Why is my Valor fireplace beeping?

On Valor's GV60 system, rapid beeps mean low receiver batteries, one long beep means an electrical problem (check the I/O toggle switch first), and one beep with no motor movement means a motor problem.

How do I reset my Valor fireplace remote?

Hold the receiver's RESET button until the second beep, release it, then press the down-flame button on the remote until the receiver beeps to confirm.
